We thought they had separated for good, their last album dating back to 2012. But twelve years later, the group Gossip, at the forefront of the “return of rock” in the 2000s, actually reformed to release there the very good “Real Power” is a few days away. At the helm, still Beth Ditto, this singer who has become a queer and feminist icon.

What is certain is that Gossip still masters the science of the tube as well. The voice of Beth Ditto, who released a rather successful solo album seven years ago, resonates as at the turn of the 21e century, when his extraordinary character stood out against conservatives of all stripes.

Rock, punk, pop and activism

So, there is nothing illogical today in hearing her speak out, still a feminist to the depths of her voice, against the American federal law on abortion, for example. The three members of Gossip have always had this unique alchemy, combining rock, punk, pop and activism. Twelve years after a last album which had lost a little energy, here is Gossip back at the right time, in good shape, and with a panache that we didn’t expect.

Gossip can be found this summer at several festivals in France: Nuit de l’Erdre on July 6, Pause Guitare in Albi on the 7th, Vieilles Charrues on the 11th, Musilac on the 13th and Rock en Seine on August 22.
