Europe has almost finalized the future anti-pollution standard

This is what the French Commissioner Thierry Breton declared before the European Parliament. The future Euro 7 standard is almost finalized and should be published in July. Scheduled for 2025, it will, according to him, benefit from “the cleanest combustion engines in the world”. Manufacturers will have two and a half years to apply it, which is rather short. The tightening of standards is also leading a growing number of brands to abandon the development of combustion engines.

Saudi Arabia orders 100,000 electric cars

This country, which made its fortune from the sale of oil, wants to be CO2 neutral by 2030. And it sees electric cars as one of the solutions to achieve this. The kingdom therefore ordered 100,000 vehicles from a manufacturer. It’s not about Tesla, but about a new manufacturer who wants to compete with it. The start-up is called Lucid and has developed a first particularly powerful model. Arabia placed a firm order for 50,000 cars, with an option for another 50,000. The Lucid Air is offered in 5 versions, from 480 to 1111 hp. And the range can exceed 800 km. Prices range from $77,000 to $169,000.

And then Formula E gets a makeover

This name designates a championship of 100% electric single-seaters, supported by the FIA, the international automobile federation. While the competition is already in its 8th season, and a grand prix is being contested this weekend in Monaco, the third generation of this single-seater has just been unveiled. It’s the fastest, lightest, most powerful and most efficient electric racing car ever. The design is inspired by the aerodynamics of a fighter plane. The main novelty is an energy recovery system on the front and rear wheels, which allows it to create 45% of the energy it will use in the race. It is also for this reason that it no longer has hydraulic brakes at the rear. The new Formula E has an efficiency of 95% for its electric motor which develops 470 hp. It will be used in racing next year.
