The National Rally could take advantage of the start of the school year to clean house in its camp, it wants to learn lessons from its relative failure in the legislative elections. Some very controversial candidates had, in fact, been put forward during the two-round election.
The time has come for the National Rally to go back to school. The party will have to bury the bad memories of the legislative elections because of the candidates accused of anti-Semitism or racism. Others are under guardianship or still untraceable in their constituencies. The party does not want them anymore and Jordan Bardella had promised to tighten the screw. A conflicts commission was held on Monday, September 9, to seal the fate of about thirty activists. Among them, a deputy from Yonne, Daniel Grenon, re-elected under the colors of the far-right party. Last July, he made shocking remarks during a debate.
“There are people who are Maghrebian and who have come to power as ministers. For me, these people have no place in high places.”he said. Today, he sits as a non-registered member in the National Assembly. “I’m waiting for the decision. If they decide to reject me, they reject me. It won’t stop me from continuing on my path.”he explains to France 2. On the other hand, another RN MP, Roger Chudeau, was not summoned despite his slip-up on dual nationals. Jordan Bardella will announce, on Sunday, September 15, changes to restructure the party with the ambition, this time, to be truly irreproachable.
