In China, the Enshi Grand Canyon welcomes thousands of visitors daily. Often compared to its American neighbor, it extends over 3,000 km2.

The Enshi Grand Canyon is the largest canyon in China, with its cliffs, crevasses and underground rivers. It was rediscovered around twenty years ago by a team of Franco-Chinese explorers, before being redeveloped for the public. Formed more than 200 million years ago, the Grand Canyon extends over 3,000 km2. A crack is 6 meters high. Since its opening in 2010, around 15,000 visitors have flocked to the premises every day.

In the middle of the Grand Canyon, the Dragon River Gorge in the clouds. 20 million years ago the place was underground. The earth has collapsed, revealing gorges that attract tourists. A 19th century bridge has its own legend. “According to legend, while it was still under construction, the bridge almost collapsed, but the dragon came to support the bridge to help the workers”, explains Tan Guyjng, deputy director of the “Grand Canyon Enshi” site. The Grand Canyon is also home to more than 200 caves, including one of the largest in the world.
