The government “will not leave the Restos du coeur without solutions”, assured government spokesperson Olivier Véran on Thursday, October 5. Despite the donations of recent weeks, the general delegate of the association, Jean-Yves Troy, announced Wednesday that the Restos du coeur would have to “for the first time to refuse people” and reduce the amount of aid provided from November.
“The Restos du coeur are not sized today to distribute 170 million meals, to accommodate 1.3 million people”he declared before the finance committee of the National Assembly. “If there is a need to review the subsidy ceiling, it will be reviewed”reacted Olivier Véran on LCI.
The Minister of Solidarity, Aurore Bergé, is “in liaison with them to discuss both subsidies and operating methods, so that the Restaurants can remain open and accommodate as many people as possible, including in November and December”he clarified.
