Atol CEO, Eric Plat defends Made in France. He relocated part of the eyewear production to France from China 15 years ago. Today, French eyewear production represents 60% of Atol’s turnover. But the frames do not cost more, promises its CEO. “What we gain above all is a carbon footprint that is divided by a hundred, emphasizes Eric Plat, especially in the energy and climate crisis we are experiencing.” He claims to have won “ease of execution with our logistics platform which is in Beaune in the Côte d’Or”. “We have all the manufacturers around us, especially in the Jura and around Oyonnax, which is much simpler,” detailed ERick Plat.
Opticians are singled out by numerous investigations, both from the repression of fraud (DGCCRF) and mutual insurance companies because they are reluctant to apply 100% Health, that is to say full reimbursement of glasses. Eric Plat assumes: “It’s normal, I confirm because when you impose an extremely low price, inevitably you have to turn to China.” “A 100% healthy product at 100 euros, it is entirely made in China”, adds Eric Plat who denounces “an extraordinary regression”.
