The summer of 2022 was the hottest ever recorded in France, with three heat waves, including one in June. For the summer of 2023, we are still expecting extreme episodes. So the government announced 15 measures. The priority is to inform the most vulnerable. SMS reminders of good practices will be widely distributed. On the morning of Thursday June 8 in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), opinions are divided.
Update the lists of vulnerable people
Identifying vulnerable people is difficult. Today less than 5% of them are registered in the municipal registers. The government wishes to urgently update these lists, by soliciting young people from the universal national service. The government is also announcing a census of cool islands and public fountains, as well as temperature control in schools. Cultural and sporting events will also have to adapt in the event of high heat.
