The government spokeswoman strongly criticized the rebellious leader, and assured that the government would seek votes neither on the side of the RN nor on the side of LFI.
“I find it a little funny that a gentleman who is not running for election himself is talking about a vote of confidence in a Prime Minister who has been elected”, launched the government spokesperson, Olivia Grégoire, Thursday, June 23 on franceinfo. The day before, the leader of La France insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, again called on the head of government to seek confidence by a vote of the deputies, and to resign if she does not obtain it.
“Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to submit Elisabeth Borne to a vote of confidence on a declaration of general policy. The leader of the Insoumis likes to submit, he submitted elsewhere in [la] Nupes socialists and ecologists.”

His message is clear: “It is not according to Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s requests for submission that the government acts and will act”. Has Elisabeth Borne already made her choice? “It’s not for me to answer”eluded Olivia Grégoire.
She also took the opportunity to provide an update on the government’s position vis-à-vis certain oppositions. “There is not a single second, at a single moment the idea of seeking votes for agreements with the National Rally”she assured, contrary to what assured the deputy La République en Marche Cécile Calvez, Monday on France 5. “It’s the same thing” with La France insoumise, she assured. As for a possible coalition with the RN or LFI, “it’s not on the program either”she said.
