While the situation is tense in Martinique and Guadeloupe, mobilized in particular against the compulsory vaccination of caregivers, the government announced, Friday, November 26, that it was postponing the date of implementation of the measure to December 31.

In a press release, ministers Sébastien Lecornu (Overseas) and Olivier Véran (Health) also offer individual support to support its application in these islands which are experiencing a serious social crisis. They also announce the lifting of the suspension of caregivers who refuse vaccination if they accept this individual support.

The vaccination obligation was to apply on November 15 in the West Indies, the day the general strike began in Guadeloupe. The movement then moved to Martinique where the protest began on November 22. What had started with blockades and pickets, however, quickly slipped into violence against the police, fires and looting, in these territories placed under curfew.
