While the energy crisis affects France, the government has decided to accelerate on nuclear power. From 2035, we should be able to count on new generation reactors. Explanations.

Accelerate on nuclear power and build as quickly as possible. In the midst of an energy crisis, the government reveals its intentions. He wants to count on new generation reactors, called EPR 2, from 2035. To avoid repeating the failure of Flamanville (Manche), where a nuclear project took 11 years late, the government wants to simplify certain rules.

At the Penly power plant (Seine-Maritime), several buildings could come out of the ground even before the end of the public inquiry. This administrative shortcut is provided for by a new bill obtained by the journalists of France Télévisons. It includes many exemptions. Article 5 qualifies, for example, these reactors as “imperative reason of overriding public interest”. This makes it possible, among other things, to deal more quickly with appeals from opponents, and in particular the protection of certain animal species.

Three projects should see the light of day in Penly, Gravelines (Nord), and another in Bugey (Ain) or Tricastin (Drôme-Vaucluse).
