“The government does not want to discuss hypotheses other than its own”, castigates Philippe Martinez (CGT)

The executive wants to prepare a bill on pension reform, for implementation from the summer of 2023. “The bottom line has not changed, we are against it. All the unions in France are against working until 64 or 65. It’s bullshit”explains Philippe Martinez, secretary general of the CGT, guest of the “4 Truths” of France 2, Thursday, September 29.

Is the CGT ready to return to negotiations? “To repeat what we said? Yes, why not. If it’s to discuss the extension of the retirement age, we won’t go long. […] The government does not want to discuss other hypotheses than its own”says the trade union leader.

Union demonstrations are planned for Thursday, September 29. “It is a problem that FO and the CFDT are not there at the national level. […] In many companies, there are unions, FO, CFDT, UNSA, which have joined the movement”explains Philippe Martinez. “For us it’s the start of something”he adds.
