The executive condemns a procedure “inglorious”. “The government is preparing to suspend the immigration law”said the Sunday newspaperFriday July 5, shortly before the end of the campaign for the legislative elections. “Following Gabriel Attal’s announcement this week of the suspension of unemployment insurance, the government plans to suspend the most repressive elements of the immigration law”wrote the JDD, referring to “yet another sign sent to the left”. “This is of course totally false”Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin quickly reacted on X (formerly Twitter).

“On behalf of the government, I deny this information and confirm that all decrees arising from the immigration law will be published on time.”wrote government spokesperson Prisca Thevenot shortly afterwards on X. “A few hours before the Republican silence, the JDD attempts to influence the vote with false information”she judged.

In the process, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal denounced an operation “well oiled”responding on X to Jordan Bardella, who relayed the publication of the Sunday Journal. “Just before the end of the campaign, false information immediately taken up by the RN in the hope that we would not have time to respond and influence the vote. Good coordination, but too bad for you: information immediately denied”commented the head of government. “The French deserve better than these Trumpist methods,” he added.
