The good start to the season for Limoges CSP hopefuls

In 100% CSP this Wednesday, we hear from the hopeful team. It’s going pretty well for the young Limoges shooters since the under 21s are in the process of achieving a big series and are also 5th in their championship. Their trainer Arnaud Tessier answers questions from Jérôme Ostermann.

France Bleu: Before talking about the second part of the season, which started well with this victory for the hopefuls, Saturday at Gravelines. Your view on the first part of the season for your proteges?

Arnaud Tessier : The first thing, I think, is that there is a good group. A good group, already in the investment, in the work. As I said at the beginning of the year, I felt there was something with these boys. It took a little time to translate in terms of results, content, and gradually, we see that it is progressing. We are on a seventh victory in a row. Currently, we have 11 wins, 5 losses, we have played 10 away games, six at home. So let’s say hard work pays off. And then it slowly progresses.

The boys show character

The victory at Gravelines, we really feel that collectively, you were a step above your opponent

Yes quite. In addition, I think Gravelines is a good team. Its ranking does not reflect value on paper. Afterwards, they find it difficult to play together a little, like other teams sometimes at a higher level. We, in addition, we missed Mehdi Bellil, who left for the Algerian team. Our most experienced player because we had no last year on the pitch. So for us, it’s a good sign. It’s an important victory because it’s also where we see that the boys are showing character: a little tough, a little jostled, no rhythm because of the covid and the missed match against Pau and we bring back an additional victory, so it’s very good for the team and for the club. And then.

The rest, precisely, is the second part of the season. The club will for the second time organize the trophy of the future. So no matter what, you’ll be there. But you are on track to go there whatever happens sportingly. What are your expectations ? That progress simply continues?

The expectations are clear. It’s to qualify in relation to our season, we are obviously in the nails at the moment. To have the best ranking possible because the ranking over 34 days also reflects the quality of a group, the work and the investment they were able to put in. And today, the objective is to continue. Match after match, to seek the 8th victory on Saturday against Nanterre. We take the matches one after the other. Afterwards, we have some difficult times because well, we have Mehdi absent for the selection of Algeria, therefore absent for three games. We have Youssef Khayat who will also be absent for two games. But that, on the contrary, is very interesting because it allows others to show themselves. It’s when we are a little cut off from certain major players that we have to show character and that prepares us for the trophy of the future.
