In Yvelines, a farm offers self-service picking of seasonal flowers. Plants that are sold cheaper than at florists.

More than 50 varieties of tulips can be picked in a field in Yvelines. During a walk, everyone can independently design their own bouquet at Fermes de Gally. This is the case of a retiree and her two grandchildren who are coming for the third time. For a retiree who has been coming regularly to this farm for 40 years, it is above all the price that counts. Here, count on 9.90 euros for 20 stems. At nearby florists, a bouquet of 10 stems costs 13.50 euros.

Tulip season almost over

A concept that is good for customers’ wallets, and which is a success for the farm. Over the five weeks of the tulip season, nearly 90,000 will be sold. “With the first nice days, people want to go out, look for activities, and so they come to us”, explains Bruno Gansel, communications manager at Fermes de Gally. Tulip season is almost over. Those of the peonies and arums will then open, which will soon show the tips of their petals.
