The Golden Knights return to victory

(Denver) Chandler Stephenson had a goal and an assist on Tuesday, helping the Vegas Golden Knights to a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Stephenson gave his team a 1-0 lead after just two minutes of play in the first period.

He completed his evening by participating in the goal of Keegan Kolesar, in an empty net.

Reilly Smith was the other scorer for the Knights, who ended a four-game losing streak.

Smith doubled down on the shorthanded visitors halfway through the first period.

Smith stole the disc away from JT Compher and had a superb backhand goal on the breakaway, having narrowly escaped Compher on the edge of the net.

Cale Makar was the only one to beat Robin Lehner, who made 26 saves.

Darcy Kuemper also blocked 26 shots.

The Knights will play again on Wednesday night in Dallas.

Samuel Girard is a case to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis in the Avalanche. The defenseman injured his upper body on Saturday in Tampa.
