The “glasses of light”, a key accessory in Louis Vuitton’s women’s collection

(Paris) If the Vuitton woman will wear gray and beige next winter, she will dazzle with her light glasses, the flagship accessory of the collection presented Monday at the Musée d’Orsay.

In front of Zendaya, Catherine Deneuve and Pharrell Williams, recently appointed creative director of men’s collections at Vuitton, women’s fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquière presented an elegant wardrobe with unexpected shapes.

Made in winter colors – black, caramel, chocolate or cream – the outfits are enhanced with sophisticated embroidery and flashy accessories.

Opposite to dark glasses, luminous glasses and visors reveal the gaze.

The skirts are getting longer and the feminine silhouette with suits, dresses and marked waists are settling in as in most collections for this Parisian ready-to-wear week, which ends on Tuesday.

Tricolor boots and ankle boots, which look like socks worn with socks, bring a youthful touch to these stylish looks.

“The French allure is a story of pretense”, assures Nicolas Ghesquière.

“What is the French style? The question is open and it is in this enigma that lies the fascination it arouses”, underlines the master of daring cuts and unexpected associations, in the note of the parade.

The parade took place in the paneled salons of the Musée d’Orsay in a scenography evoking the parade of yesteryear with a raised but resolutely modern podium.

The clicking of the heels came from the models, but also from the sound accompaniment imagined by the composer Nicolas Becker, illusions supposed to participate in “the stylistic mystery”.

“The Louis Vuitton collection is very strong and Nicolas Ghesquière has shown his superior ability to play with unexpected shapes and proportions while creating truly coveted pieces,” commented Simon Longland, purchasing director at Harrods in a note sent to the AFP.
