There was chaos in the air at Matmut Atlantique. And it was finally Bordeaux who were able to resist their demons to win 3-1 against Metz, Sunday April 10, in the duel between the two red lanterns of Ligue 1. A victory which allows the Girondins to leave the last place and especially to return to a point of Saint-Etienne, play-off, and two units of Clermont, first non-relegation.

Metz, which nevertheless led 1-0 thanks to an achievement by Didier Lamkel Zé (21st), is sinking in the standings and is now in last position. The Garnets, who have not won a league game in nine games, seem to be sinking inexorably towards Ligue 2. But, after the sinking of Saint-Etienne on Friday, Frédéric Antonetti’s players remain four points behind the play-offs and are still urge. The reception of Clermont, the first non-relegation, next week will be crucial for the Mosellans.

The Girondins, they were able to turn the tide in the second half. Ricardo Mangas (52nd) first, then Mbaye Niang (68th) allowed Bordeaux to pass in front. The goal of the inevitable Hwang Ui-jo (88th), his eleventh this season, sealed the victory for his team. A breath of fresh air for the Bordelais who had not won for almost three months.

David Guion’s men are therefore approaching the place of play-off, currently occupied by Saint-Etienne, but also that of non-relegation which is only two points away. The Girondins will travel to Lyon next week, before receiving … Saint-Etienne. The hope of maintenance is reborn on the banks of the Garonne.
