It is one more piece in the Bordeaux file. The Girondins de Bordeaux formalized on Thursday, July 21 in the evening, the transfer of their young hope Sékou Mara to Southampton, for 13 million euros. Smiling and hardworking, Sékou is a true child of the Club. We will continue to follow his performance across the Channel and elsewhere. We wish him the best for the rest of his career.”indicate the Girondins in the press release announcing his departure.

The sale sounds like a breath of financial air for the club, a few days after the homologation judgment of the Commercial Court of Bordeaux which validates “the absence of a state of cessation of payments, the durability of the agreements (with the creditors King Street and Fortress), the absence of infringement of the rights of third parties”. It also intervenes at the best of times, the Bordeaux delegation having appeared before the CNOSF a little earlier in the day for a conciliation hearing.

“This demonstrates the financial solidity of the club thanks to a reconstituted player asset: thanks to this single operation, the club has already reached almost all of its sales target (14 million euros) in the off-season”the Girondins said in a series of tweets.

This objective was one of the requests of the National Management Control Department (DNCG). After opening a compulsory line of credit of 14 million euros which had not satisfied the federal appeals commission, the president-owner, Gerard Lopez, had placed the same sum in receivership to cover the sales of players from the summer transfer window.

We now have to wait a little longer to find out the final outcome and the fate that the FFF has in store for the Bordeaux club. The opinion of the CNOSF is indeed expected from Monday.
