The Gironde association Ancestors of Africa

It was on his return from a trip to Cameroon in 2012 that Eric Nobyn clicked. After meeting Africans in need and maintaining contacts, he created the Ancêtres d’Afrique association. Its objective: to support Africans, internally displaced people, victims of a conflict between two local dialects: Anglophones and Francophones. 700,000 internally displaced persons are thus affected by this quarrel. These refugees wander in Cameroon, in the cities and the countryside. This is where the association acts by giving them work in agriculture. No question of making them dependent, quite the contrary. Ancêtres d’Afrique goes further by providing these refugees with land, equipment and seeds. What to start again in their life! In 2021, the association carried out its action in 68 Cameroonian villages.

Helped by correspondents on site, the association has welcomed new volunteers and wishes to develop agro-ecology on these sites. Thus, they prepare permaculture beds on the compost-based land. Real organic fertilizer, very effective and free, it offers an excellent yield of the land.

Volunteers here to act there

As with any association, Ancêtres d’Afrique relies on the involvement and support of its volunteers. In permanent recruitment, it welcomes you if you wish to bring your stone to the building and help these not so distant populations. You can also go there to help develop the projects, but also take the opportunity to discover the culture and the country.
