Published last spring by editions Leaf merchant, the novel has been a great success since its publication. It landed on the preliminary list for the 2022 Quebec Booksellers Prize and ranked at the top of book sales in Quebec.

The daughter of herself is the first Quebec autofiction to address the issue of transidentity. The novel tells the story of a little girl who is born into a boy’s body; she is called a failed girl, smokes cigarettes so as not to grow taller, and throughout her adolescence drags a dead boy in her wallet until she gives birth to herself.

Born in Saint-Siméon in 1990, Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay is an activist for the rights of LGBTQ + people. She was nominated for the Canadian Screen Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film. Those who make revolutions halfway have only dug a grave – a first for a trans woman in Canada. In 2018 appeared his collection of poetry Secrets of origami, at Del Busso Éditeur.

Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay will be at the Montreal Book Fair this Saturday, starting at 1:30 p.m.
