D-1 before the start of the Euro in Germany. On the program: 51 matches and 24 teams competing, including obviously the German selection, automatically qualified as the organizing country. The Mannschaft will play its first match on Friday June 14 against Scotland in Munich. But in the meantime the players have gone green in Bavaria, near Nuremberg in Herzogenaurach.

The 15 bungalows of the German players are hidden from view, behind a thick forest and a long fence which protects the site. And the few supporters who were hoping for selfies and autographs left empty-handed. Max, 17, was luckier and was able to attend Mannschaft training. “Usually, we always see them on television. It’s cool to see Manuel Neuer or Thomas Müller, real legends, and to be able to chat with them a little. I hope we finish in the top 4, it would be good !”

The 4,000 free tickets to watch the training were booked within three minutes. The town’s mayor, German Hacker, hopes players will sign his guestbook.

“There is only one German national team and it is with us. What more could we wish for? That makes me happy. And it is priceless publicity.”

At the entrance to the city’s large sports store, the comings and goings of customers never end. Alex has just spent 250 euros on three jerseys: “Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer’s jersey, Florian Wirtz’s home jersey, Thomas Müller’s pink jersey, with pants and socks. I have more than 200 football jerseys at home.” The collector will be in Munich on Friday evening to attend the opening match between Germany and Scotland.
