The gendarmerie is launching an appeal for witnesses following the fire that broke out in South Corsica on Thursday, August 29, France Bleu RCFM reported on Friday. Investigators are looking for information on the presence or absence of a vehicle parked not far from where the fire started.

In its appeal for witnesses, the gendarmerie specifies that it is looking for “any person having evidence or having observed the presence of a vehicle parked on the D859 departmental road, in the direction of Porto-Vecchio towards Sotta, and which stopped at a dirt roadside verge located approximately 500 meters after the Picciocchi industrial laundry […] August 29 between 12 noon and 1 p.m.

On Thursday, a fire broke out between Porto-Vecchio and Sotta. The flames ravaged around forty hectares.
