The 13 Heures takes you, Monday April 29, to discover the garden of Ninfa, in Italy. Created from scratch almost 100 years ago, it is a treasure trove of biodiversity which is home to 1,300 botanical species.

The Garden of Ninfa is one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. This little corner of paradise is home to 1,300 botanical species, which must be taken care of. So, to maintain them, around ten gardeners work full time. This garden is a treasure trove of biodiversity. Antonella Ponsillo is the botanist of Ninfa’s garden. She watches over the balance of species. “Here, it’s not just a collection of plants. It’s a whole ecosystem”she says.

The garden open only on weekends

This natural setting was created from scratch almost 100 years ago. At the time, it was a simple piece of land used for pasture, until a rich Italian family decided to restore the ruins of this medieval village. This garden, which has become legendary, inspires poets and writers, and has attracted many personalities, such as Charles and Lady Diana. The Ninfa garden is open to the public only on weekends, and by reservation, so as not to disturb the natural beauty of the place.
