The Gard Lionel Lefebvre at the Beijing Olympics sets off in bobsleigh

This is a childhood dream of participating in the Olympics, this is today done. Lionel Lefebvre is the only Gard resident who is one of the athletes selected for the Beijing Olympics. The competition starts this Saturday, February 19 with first the women’s round in two-man bobsleigh, then the men’s round in four-man bobsleigh. Seven years that Lionel Lefebvre has worked tirelessly to become a pusher holder of the France team and if his objective is first to have fun, the blues are aiming for a top 10.

When my parents watched the Olympics on TV, I too said to myself one day I would be a champion

A very strict health protocol

The team arrived in Beijing in early February, once in the health bubble, they have to comply with several measures because China does not let anything pass. Athletes are tested every day in their hotel. To collect meals, plastic gloves are distributed, then once at the table, accredited people can take off their masks and take a breather. During training, it’s the same thing, masks are compulsory during the warm-up. An agonizing health protocol at the start, but the athlete quickly got used to it.
