The Gard Food Bank needs volunteers, especially drivers

Every morning, hundreds of kilos of unsold foodstuffs from the day before are transported by Food Bank vehicles from partner stores and supermarkets to the premises of the Gard Food Bank. These foodstuffs are then sorted and stored in cold rooms before being distributed to partner associations on behalf of their beneficiaries. Every morning pallets are prepared by volunteers to ensure this distribution. Located in the premises of the market-station, route de Montpellier in Nîmes, the Banque Alimentaire du Gard is looking for volunteers likely to commit one to three half-days a week to contribute to the collective made up of 5 permanent employees and around forty volunteers contributing on a daily basis to the achievement of this objective.

Drivers, but also pallet preparers, sorters and accounting support.

The Food Bank of Gard, thanks to its 84 partner associations, contributes each year to provide for the food needs of more than 30,000 people in Gard.

“We are primarily looking for drivers (license B), keen to work as a team, who leave in the morning on tour in Nîmes and the surrounding area to collect fresh produce, fruit and vegetables to bring them back to our premises on the road to Montpellier.”

Anyone interested in product sorting and pallet preparation activities but also accounting support for administrative activities are also welcome.
