“Dear friends, the unity of our group is very important but unity (like life as a couple 😉 cannot be decreed: it is built every day…” Gérald Darmanin sent a text message to Renaissance MPs on Friday, July 12, while the party leaders met at the Elysée around Emmanuel Macron. The presidential camp group in the National Assembly must elect its president on Saturday, between 9 a.m. and noon, by electronic vote. Gabriel Attal is the only one officially running for president of the Renaissance group.
“The elections within the group do not, however, in any way resolve the two major problems that we face. : our political line, our project for the French and the critical examination of our action, our method and our results”, And “the functioning of the party and the necessary representation of territories and sensitivities”explains the Minister of the Interior, re-elected as a deputy in the North at the end of the second round of the legislative elections, and ultimately not a candidate for the presidency of the group.
“I therefore hope very sincerely and from the bottom of my heart that group life will be collective and that each sensitivity will be respected in its expression,” adds Gérald Darmanin, who promises to contribute “to the efforts to be made”. He “plays unity. But he also makes his voice heard. He wants radical change, especially in the party, and he sets a date,” observes in reaction, with France Télévisions, a deputy close to the Minister of the Interior.
