The funeral of Just Fontaine, who died on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, at the age of 89, will be celebrated on Monday March 6 in Toulouse, reports this Thursday France Bleu Occitanie in the cathedral Saint Etienne. The footballer, record holder of the number of goals in the World Cup, had settled in Toulouse in the 1960s.

According to information from France Bleu Occitanie, the interim president of the French Football Federation, Philippe Diallo, will be present in Toulouse to attend the funeral. Many personalities are expected, such as Alain Giresse or Jean-Claude Darmon.
“I think the cathedral will be filled” for these funerals, estimates on France Bleu Occitanie the biographer of Just Fontaine, Marc Bradfer. He recalls that the flagship striker of Stade de Reims was “much loved and very accessible”.
