The funeral of former minister Nadine Girault celebrated Saturday in Laval

A final tribute will be paid on Saturday to former CAQ minister Nadine Girault, who died at the age of 63 from lung cancer last month.

His funeral will be celebrated in private at 2 p.m. at Les Espaces Memoria, in Laval, where loved ones can honor his memory one last time.

Prime Minister François Legault plans to attend the funeral. He should address the media briefly before the start of the ceremony.

On Friday, at the same location where the funeral will take place, members of the public could offer their condolences to the family and loved ones of the former politician.

Elected MP for Bertrand in the Laurentians in 2018, Ms. Girault was Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, as well as of Immigration, Francisation and Integration, during the first term of the Legault government.

Last July, Ms. Girault announced that she would not be in the running for the October 2022 elections due to her state of health.

Before entering politics with the Coalition avenir Québec, Ms. Girault held management positions, notably at the Royal Bank, the Bank of Montreal and at Desjardins, in addition to having sat on several boards of directors.
