A welcome boost. HASnnounced by the government at the beginning of October, the “fuel cheque” will be paid from Monday 7 November. This aid, of between 100 and 200 euros, is addressed to low-income households who heat with fuel oil and who have not been able to benefit from the shield put in place for other energy sources, recalls the decree published in the Official Journal on Sunday 6 November.

This fuel voucher, valid for one year, amounts to 200 euros for households earning less than 10,800 euros per year per consumption unit (i.e. when the income of an adult in the household, once deducted in particular the burden represented by minors, does not exceed 10,800 euros per year, according to the INSEE calculation). The aid will be 100 euros for households earning between 10,800 and 20,000 euros per year per consumption unit.

1.4 million households could benefit from this check

This device is part of the envelope of 230 million euros voted by Parliament this summer and can be used for the payment of any type of energy bill, if ever the households concerned have filled up their tank recently. According to the government, 1.4 million households could benefit from this check out of the 2.8 million who heat with fuel oil. It can be requested from Monday on the chequeenergie.fr site where a simulator will show who is eligible.

At the beginning of October, the Ministry of the Economy recalled that “this fuel aid will come in addition to the usual energy check, sent in the spring to around 6 million households, and the exceptional end-of-year energy check which will be sent to 40% of households (12 million households)”to cope with the 15% rise in gas and electricity prices expected in 2023.
