Benoît Teste, general secretary of the FSU, denounced, Friday October 4, on franceinfo “pure demagoguery” by Michel Barnier who indicated Thursday on France 2 that he wanted “merge public services” And “probably not replace all civil servants” in order to reduce public spending, especially those who are not in direct contact with the public.
“It is pure demagoguery to think that only civil servants who are in direct contact with users, with students, would be useful,” criticizes the unionist. He rejects “the argument which consists of saying that France is over-administered and that there are, in a way, paper civil servants who are in offices and who do things which are considered useless. This argument is demagogic, it is fake”, he denounces.
In National Education, Benoît Teste ensures that overadministration “is a lure, a myth, an illusion. It is false. There are not enough administrative staff.” 850,000 teachers work in National Education. According to the criteria set out by Michel Barnier, they would therefore not be theoretically affected by the job cuts. But Benoît Teste doesn’t believe it “not for a second”. According to him, “when we follow the principle of massive job cuts, we obviously hit everywhere we can hit, we make deep cuts”. He expects that“we cut into the bodies which are important, from the personnel which are significant in number”, he laments.
