The Freze Froggy is the weirdest car you’ll see today

Been to Dartz? We’ve already told you about this Latvian-based tuner, which prides itself on providing “bulletproof opulence to billionaires, megastars, army leaders and dictators since 1869”. He was also the one who created the golden Prombron Kombat Aladeen from the film. The dictator (2012) starring Sacha Baron Cohen.

His latest creation is not an infernal SUV but rather… a small electric convertible!

Taking advantage of the expertise of its subsidiary Freze & Co, Dartz designed the Freze Froggy which, as its name suggests, looks like a strange mechanical batrachian. Moreover, we would be more likely to see it on the edge of a beach than in a chic urban district.

Smaller than a smart fortwo, the vehicle is in fact based on a model from the Chinese group SAIC-GM-Wuling, which markets it under the names Chery QQ Ice Cream, BAW S3 and Dongfeng Fengguang MINI EV. Freze made it the Nikrob then, to transform it into Froggy, the roof was removed while the windshield and the windows were cut in half.

The rear-mounted electric motor produces 41 horsepower, which is truly anemic. On the other hand, the battery that powers it is said to provide a range of 240 kilometers, which is as much as a base Nissan LEAF – or 50% more than a Mazda MX-30, if you prefer.

Dartz says he wants to approach hotels and car rental companies near the Mediterranean first. Eventually, the Froggy will be offered and sold to individuals, along with a number of special editions. His price? The equivalent of approximately $25,000 Canadian.

By the way, the other curious racing car in yellow that you can see in one of the images is an old Mercedes-Benz SLK converted into a dune buggy. They are crazy, these people from Dartz!
