Gold around the neck. Almost a year after a frustrating fourth place at the Tokyo Olympics, the French women’s 3×3 basketball team won the World Cup in Antwerp (Belgium) on Sunday June 26. This is the first time that Les Bleues, led by Myriam Djekoundade, Laëtitia Guapo, Hortense Limouzin and Marie-Eve Paget, have won this prestigious title.

Second in their group behind the United States, France then knew how to manage the direct elimination phase. It largely beat Mongolia (21-9), trembled against Spain (15-14) in the quarter-finals and China (17-16) in the semi-finals, before beating Canada (16-13) in the final, thanks to the great shooting success of Myriam Djekoundade.
For its part, the men’s team took third place in the competition. Beaten by a breath by Lithuania in the semi-finals (17-18), the Blues recovered well to win the bronze against the Belgian neighbors (18-17). This is Franck Seguela who liberated France by scoring the winning basket after six additional minutes.
