After its defeat against Italy (1-3), the French team took a breather on Monday, thanks to its success against Belgium (2-0) with a largely revamped team.

The defeat against Italy had a bitter taste on Saturday. This victory against Belgium, Monday September 9 in Décines (Rhône), will allow the Blues to soften the taste a little. Didier Deschamps’ men reassured themselves by winning logically, thanks to two goals scored by Randal Kolo Muani (29th), very prolific with the French team, and Ousmane Dembélé (56th).
The team, largely reshuffled at kick-off – only three players who started against the Red Devils were in the same position against the Squadra Azzurra – took twenty minutes before really getting into the game. A start during which the Blues came close to a penalty with several chances, often initiated by Kevin de Bruyne and Dodi Lukebakio, who took advantage of an apathetic defense.
After the 25th minute, the Tricolores got their ideas back on track and increased their strength, like Manu Koné and Mattéo Guendouzi, and started to push. With success, since after a big strike from Marcus Thuram, it was Randal Kolo Muani who opened the scoring a little before the half-hour mark.
The Belgians never managed to be as dangerous as they had been at the start of the match. At the end of the match, they had only shot… nine times on goal, compared to 25 for the Blues. And Ousmane Dembélé’s talent finally spoke: served by N’Golo Kanté, the Parisian made a nice solo raid into the opposing surface before striking victoriously with his left foot. Thanks to this victory, France moves back to second in its group behind Italy, winner of Israel (2-1) in Hungary.
