The French reggae group Sinsémilia celebrates its 30th anniversary in concert in Grenoble

Sinsémilia is not just a bunch of musicians. It is above all a bunch of friends who send decibels of happiness during each passage on stage. With its anniversary tour, the committed reggae group celebrates thirty years of friendship, songs and lives. At each concert, it is the same enthusiasm, as much on the side of the artists as of the spectators.

“They are super accessible and human and I think that’s why they are still there after thirty years. Sinsémilia, they are apart”. This testimony collected after the concert given in Clermont-Ferrand on October 29 says a lot about the popularity of the reggae group.

It must be said that in thirty years of career, these musicians have marked the French music scene not only with their hits, including the famous song All the happiness in the world but also with their frenzied shows, which mix the colors of reggae and the musical cultures of each of the twelve musicians. “Our reggae, it is also marked by rock influences and French song”, explains Mike, a member of the group.

Almost all the early musicians are still there, proof that Sinsémilia is a group apart. It is a collective, a group of friends united, committed and caring for each other. “In our priorities, there is to take care of this friendship. Suddenly, it is accepting to devote a lot of time to dialogue and understanding. Sometimes you even have to make choices between a career and a human relationship.“Riké, another member even specifies: “It’s a lifetime, but it’s just wonderful. We learned a lot together.”

To fully appreciate the phenomenon, just look at the figures. Sinsémilia is more than 1400 concerts, more than ten albums, more than a million copies sold with a remarkable longevity for a group.

This exceptional career began in Grenoble with a very first concert given on June 21, 1991, during the music festival. Friends, fans of reggae, dare to perform on a sidewalk. The beginning of a beautiful musical and human adventure for a group which undoubtedly has a sense of celebration. Saturday’s show at the Summum in Grenoble should be one of the highlights of the anniversary tour.

Finally for the little story, Sinsémillia comes from Spanish “sin “” semilla “ (without seed), referring to cannabis. For the most expert, these are Seedless cannabis flowers grown from unfertilized female plants.
