Janja Garnbret still sickened the competition on Saturday during the final of the European difficulty climbing championships. Manon Hily finished third.
Tricolor climbing in the spotlight. Manon Hily won the bronze medal in the final of the difficulty event at the European Championships, Saturday August 13 in Munich. Presented as a serious outsider, the Frenchwoman took second place in the semi-final behind the reigning European champion in the specialty, the Slovenian Janja Garnbret. The latter did not flinch in the final despite the pressure linked to her status as a great favorite. Olympic champion in Tokyo in 2021, the Slovenian has won the last 36 rounds of the World Cup in difficulty.
After four difficult seasons at international level, Manon Hily returned to the top of the rankings in July by taking fifth place in the World Cup in Villars (Loire). She confirmed the following week by taking 9th place in Chamonix (Haute-Savoie). The Frenchwoman wins her first international medal in Munich.
