A survey on life expectancy shows that we live longer in good health. Present on the set of 12/13, Thursday February 23, the journalist Jean-Christophe Batteria provides details.
According to a survey of life expectancy, humans live longer in good health. What do we actually mean by “to be in a good health” ? “It’s not suffering from any addiction, not having a disability, for example for sight, hearing and mobility in general. You must also not suffer from a chronic disabling pathology”, details the journalist Jean-Christophe Batteria, present on the set of 12/13, Thursday, February 23. So, “At age 65, women statistically have a healthy life expectancy of another 12.6 years, so up to 77.6 years. For men it’s 11.3, so up to 76.3 years”he continues.
A higher average in France
How does France compare to the rest of Europe? “Good health after the age of 65 for the population as a whole is in France 8 months higher than the European average and one year and 8 months for women compared to other Europeans”, says the journalist. This can be explained in particular by advances in medicine or the decline in the consumption of tobacco and alcohol.
