the French Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Androdias crowned in double sculls

Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Androdias won the World Rowing Championships in double sculls this Sunday, ahead of Spanish and Australian duos, in Racice in the Czech Republic. The French had immediately taken the lead in the race, winning in 6 min 9 sec and 34/100th. Started from the water line number 4, the French duo gave their opponents no chance gradually increasing its lead.

The Spaniards Aleix Garcia Pujolar and Rodrigo Conde Romero, who moved up to third position at each intermediate stage, managed to clinch second place at the end of the race at the expense of the Australians David Bartholot and Caleb Antill.

The tricolor pair had climbed to the final after easily winning their semi-final series on Friday in 6 min 12 sec 43/100th, ahead of the Greeks Ioannis Kalandaridis and Athanasios Palaiopanos, who finished in sixth and last place on Sunday.

Already world champions in double sculls in 2018 in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Androdias were also crowned European champions the same year in Glasgow then in 2021 in Varèse (Italy). They also won the Men’s double sculls gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
