The French Hospital Federation (FHF) speaks for the first time, on franceinfo on Sunday April 14, through its general delegate, Zaynab Riet, who “welcomes the liberation of women’s voices” and encourages “denounce all forms of violence”.
In an interview Wednesday at Paris Match, the head of the infectious diseases hospital department at Saint-Antoine hospital, Karine Lacombe, accused emergency physician Patrick Pelloux of “sexual and moral harassment”. Since this speech, the testimonies have multiplied. Dr Pelloux says he is the victim of “defamation” and rejects the accusations made against him.
Since 2018 (after the MeToo wave), the FHF wishes “lift two taboos”, says Zaynab Riet : brotherly relations and sexist and sexual violence, and inequalities within medical studies. In 2019, the FHF put in place a guide to help establishments detect forms of violence, and support victims and witnesses, explains the general delegate.
Frédéric Valletoux, Minister Delegate in charge of Health [et ancien président de la FHF], will bring together associations, employers and health professionals by next week around the issue of sexism in hospitals. On this occasion, Zaynab Riet assures that the FHF will propose several measures in favor of gender equality, for example “give women access to positions of responsibility”as heads of department, presidents of establishment medical commissions or deans.
