The French say they are more and more tolerant of religions or minorities: this is one of the conclusions of the report of the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights (CNCDH) published Monday July 18, which franceinfo was able to consult.

This independent commission, which has questioned a representative panel of 1,300 French people in recent months, draws up an inventory of racism, anti-Semitism and xenophobia in France in 2022.

According to this report, fighting all forms of discrimination is necessary for the vast majority of respondents. And more and more people think so. However, some groups remain particularly stigmatized in France, such as the Roma: 60% of respondents believe that they are not integrated into our society.

Islam also remains a rather badly perceived religion in France, according to the report, even if this feeling of mistrust has been in constant decline in recent years.

Finally, the Commission notes a paradox in our society: the French advocate tolerance, but, at the same time, in practice, racist attacks or insults are on the rise in France, mainly against black and Arab people. And more and more, warns the report, against Asians.
