A historic market in Château-Gontier

At the gathering place in Mayenne, the commune of Château-Gontier has always seen farmers from the Mayenne region converge there in order to market their local products. In its history, the weekly market of Château-Gontier was held not every Thursday, but on Saturday mornings.

It was in 1652 that Thursday became a single market around the halls built in the 15th century and replaced by the current halls in 1892, with an animal market added to it every week. ©chateaugontier.fr
