A month after the formation of the New Popular Front, the left-wing political parties have not managed to reach an agreement on the name of a Prime Minister.
On June 13, four days after the dissolution of the National Assembly, the New Popular Front presented the image of a reconstituted political family by promising a united left-wing government. On Wednesday, July 17, disagreements continued, with no compromise on the horizon. In Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), voters were exasperated by the situation. “It’s ridiculous, we agree to be elected, to have a position, to be a deputy, after that, we no longer agree”regrets a man.
Can France change its political culture? “Everyone must adapt to these new political practices (…) This coalition format requires taking time and giving time to democracy”assures Dorian Dreuil, political scientist, associate expert at the Jean-Jaurès Foundation. The left must still reach an agreement if it wants to hope to govern.
