The sprinters are out. There are only three stages left to compete, and the 19th, 177 kilometers long between La Baneza and Iscar, is promised to the fastest runners, Friday September 15. A real relief for them, after several days of suffering in the mountains. First in the points classification, the Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin) intends to add a third stage to his record at the Tour of Spain 2023. He could do as well as the Belgian Remco Evenepoel, second best sprinter and winner the day before on steeper terrain that he prefers.
In the general classification, it now seems certain that the first three will remain in this order, namely Sepp Kuss ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic, to offer Jumbo-Visma a historic hat-trick in Madrid on Sunday. “It’s good to pay him back, he’s done so much for us in the past”declared the winner of the Tour de France to the man who is usually his luxury teammate.
