The founder of the association Le Refuge, created to help victims of homophobia in family breakdown, was indicted Thursday in Montpellier for rape, sexual harassment, moral harassment and concealed work, indicates Friday January 21 France Bleu Hérault , confirming information from Parisian. Nicolas Noguier was released and placed under judicial control.

“The charges against him are far too insufficient, we are confident for the rest of the procedure”, said his lawyer, master Saban Saber, to France Bleu Hérault. Nicolas Noguier was placed in police custody on Wednesday as part of an investigation opened by the Montpellier prosecutor’s office in February 2021 for facts qualified as “serious” by the public prosecutor.

In May 2021, 18 complaints were recorded, filed by former young LGBT people collected by Le Refuge but also by former volunteers of the association, in particular for moral or sexual harassment, sexual assault or abuse of weakness. After 18 years of presidency of the association, Nicolas Noguier had to resign in February 2021, recalls France Bleu.

The case began with an investigation of Mediapart, in December 2020. In February 2021, an audit carried out by an independent firm confirmed serious dysfunctions within the association. Until then, Nicolas Noguier has always denied the charges brought against him.
