Jean-Pierre Dartevelle is indicted by the Montbéliard prosecutor’s office. He is suspected of rape and sexual assault on a minor. He would have taken advantage of his influence to maintain a “sordid relationship” with a 16-year-old girl, according to a source familiar with the matter. Facts that date back to 2016.
Two years later, the alleged victim filed a complaint and the former president of the Franche-Comté Tennis Federation was placed in police custody for corruption of a minor and sexual abuse of a minor over the age of 15
. He came out free, denying the charges against him. “I am dazed to be tossed around with despicable terms that do not correspond to reality”he said.
A possible trial at the assizes
This time, the judicial machine is really set in motion with a new charge, that of rape. The investigating judge of the Montbéliard judicial court should rule in the coming months concerning a possible trial at the assizes of Jean-Pierre Dartevelle.
At 72, Jean-Pierre Dartevelle is a well-known figure in Franche-Comté. Former dentist in Montbéliard and regional councilor LR, he had short hours of glory as a professional player in Sochaux. He is best known for his role in tennis. In addition to his mandates as President of the Franche-Comté Tennis League, he was Vice-President of the French Tennis Federation. He even came close to being its president in 2017 but narrowly lost to his opponent Bernard Giudicelli.
