20 months after surgery in emergency of a brain tumor, and after a long fight against the disease, Virginia Torrecilla put her name back on a game sheet and put on the cleats for an official meeting.
This Thursday, the 27-year-old Spaniard, spent by Montpellier between 2015 and 2019 and who had played the World Cup in France more than two years ago, was on the bench for the semi-final of his country’s Super Cup, against Levante.
The young woman did not come into play, but her training, which supported her during all these months of combat, qualified for the final (2-3). His presence brought smiles to all his fans and more generally to all of Spanish football, while Virginia Torrecilla has never abandoned hers despite the ordeal.
