Aurélie Filippetti, former Minister of Culture under François Hollande, will soon be appointed to the direction of Cultural Affairs of the City of Paris, France Bleu Paris learned on Tuesday, confirming information from Le Monde.
She succeeds Irène Basilis, appointed to this position in January 2021. Among her tasks, Aurélie Filippetti will be responsible for 2,800 municipal agents and will preside over the destinies of libraries, music conservatories, Parisian museums, the Théâtre du Châtelet, or even the Gaité Lyrique.
The socialist deputy of Moselle, elected in 2007, had been appointed in 2012 Minister of Culture by François Hollande, before leaving the rue de Valois in 2014, disagree with the policy by the government of Manuel Valls. She was one of the 39 socialist deputies called “slingers” who abstained on the vote on the 2015 budget presented by the government.
Teacher at Sciences-Po and novelist, Aurélie Filippetti chaired the Mediterranean Film Festival of Montpellier. Since 2020, she has been managing the Villa Finaly, in Florence, a place managed by the Chancellery of the Universities of Paris used to host researchers, as well as conferences and congresses.
