The former employee of the Élysée, Alexandre Benalla, was sentenced to three years in prison, including one year closed, Friday, November 5, for acts of violence during the demonstrations, on May 1, 2018.
Justice ruled and condemned Alexandre Benalla, the former Elysee mission manager and former close friend of Emmanuel Macron. Friday, November 5, he left the hearing without saying a word. He was sentenced to three years in prison, one of which was closed for violence during the demonstrations of May 1, 2018. Simon Duquerroir, victim of Alexandre Benalla, evokes a relief, but also a surprise. “He is nevertheless a great personality of the State. I am very happy with the decision rendered by the judges”, did he declare.
On May 1, 2018, Alexandre Benalla said he wanted to help the police to deal with dangerous demonstrators, “black blocks” according to him. “This is an argument to discredit the plaintiffs and legitimize your actions”, in particular replied the court. The former employee of the Élysée will not go to prison, however. If he does not appeal, he will have to wear an electronic bracelet in Normandy, at his mother’s home.
