Thusday April 28, at the trial of the Brétigny rail disaster, the former CEO of the SNCF, Guillaume Pépy, is heard. On the spot, the journalist Nathalie Pérez takes stock of the situation.
At the trial of the Brétigny rail disaster, Thursday, April 28, nine years after the facts, the testimony of the former CEO of the SNCF, Guillaume Pépy, is no longer quite the same. “In the aftermath of the disaster, Guillaume Pépy had publicly affirmed in front of the cameras that the SNCF was responsible for this tragedy”, reports journalist Nathalie Pérez, live from the Évry courthouse (Essonne). The former CEO had also spoken of a lack of maintenance. “Indeed, I said that, but I was at that time in the most total confusion (…) it was a few hours after the accident, I was very moved, I would not have had to use these words or these approximations“, he said today.
So what is his version? He answers : “I think there are two hypotheses: it may be a defect in the metal part, or a maintenance defect, but I have no personal opinion. It will be up to you to decide.“Guillaume Pépy is still under interrogation and has been for more than three hours.
