The Ford Ranger Raptor will be marketed in Canada

After the Bronco, it’s now the turn of the mid-size Ranger pickup to enter the select club of pure adventurers by receiving the Raptor treatment from Ford engineers. This new proposal will be present on the Canadian market next year, confirmed Ford Canada.

Popularized by the F-150, which used the name in 2010 to designate a version designed for grueling desert driving sessions, the term Raptor tries to take advantage of the growing popularity of these vehicles with disproportionate capacities. That said, in the case of the Ranger, the format will no doubt be much better suited to the tighter yards that enthusiasts typically borrow.

Presented in world premiere last week in its European and Australian formulas, this livery will benefit from a substantial addition of power thanks to the contribution of a 3 L twin-turbo V6. it could produce 396 hp, a figure not far off the Bronco Raptor’s 400 hp. It will be tamed by a 10-speed transmission.

Obviously, it rests on a stiffened ladder platform which will be equipped with adjustable FOX shock absorbers with longer travel to ensure better hold when crossing obstacles. Protective plates are also added under the chassis to protect the mechanical components during exercise.

We’ll know more about the North American iteration in early 2023, Ford Canada told us.
