“The movement does not cease, but it is transformed”, summarizes the president of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau. Its union (majority) and Young Farmers (JA) called for suspending the blockades of farmers in France in view of the announcements of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, Thursday February 1.

“We have been heard on a certain number of points, with tangible progress concerning emergency measures”greeted Arnaud Rousseau. “We have decided that at the moment, in view of everything that has been announced (…), we need to change our mode of action and therefore we are calling on our networks (…) to suspend the blockades and enter into a new form of mobilization“, explained the president of the JA, Arnaud Gaillot.

“The mobilization could resume”

The two networks call on their members to work with prefectures and ministries to implement the measures mentioned by Gabriel Attal. Officials, however, set several conditions, including the distribution of a written note setting out on paper the announcements of the Prime Minister, “first results” by the Agricultural Show (February 24-March 3) then the adoption of an agricultural orientation and future law as well as European measures by June. “If the results were not there, the mobilization could resume these types of forms”warns Arnaud Rousseau.

A few minutes after this declaration, the president of Rural Coordination also called on the mobilized farmers to break camp. “Those who are tired, those who are here, those who are on roadblocks and who are exhausted, it won’t change anything if we stay another day”declared Véronique Le Floc’h, who came to the National Assembly with other farmers to meet the deputies.
